As AdWords is based on both cost per click and cost per impression charges to advertisers, the better the search completed using the search engine, the more precise advertisers can be in defining which keywords or search terms they want their ads to be seen with. Google has been able to make major strides in their use of the technologies the search engine was originally based on by investing heavily into research and development.
