Literature Review
Multinational corporations (MNC) are defined as firms that have operations or assets that generate profits for the organization in more than one country. The advantages of setting up multinational operations are threefold; ownership, location, and internalization. (Jones, 2005) The opening up of various markets around the world and the deregulation of many state run operations have allowed the rapid growth of multinational corporations. Most MNCs seek advantages through their strategies, structures, and processes. (Busco et al., 2006) Not only do multinationals increasingly work in partnerships with national governments and international organizations, they also engage heavily in social development. (Wettstein, 2005)
Culture is the hidden backbone for any organization. Understanding an organizationals culture can take time as it is not always visible and tangible. Morale and motivation issues at a basic level may be the same; but, society and regional influence on these issues are great. Culture had been defined not as the behavior of the people living in it; it is the it in which they live.
