While highly skilled professionals have to abide by a strict and fancy dress code while at work, low skilled workers are only required to wear clothing that can withstand rough working conditions
Material wealth, or lack thereof, is in turn indicative of the type of work a person engages in within society. Through the poem one comes to understand that generally the individuals literally born with silver spoons in their mouths come from families who are successful within their professional fields; much of these high-paying professions require their employees to be highly skilled in and knowledgeable about the work that they do. In contrast to this, individuals born under poorer circumstances come from families who often work in low skilled jobs that pay barely minimum wages.
