......Background: People talk a lot about relationship marketing, and about how to keep customers and clients happy, but they talk very little about how they are going to keep employees happy and why they should even bother to do so (Gronroos, 2000). In truth, employees are the lifeblood of any company (Anderson & Weitz, 1992). If a business cannot keep good workers it will have to shut its doors, and that's true of export oriented businesses and those who do not make goods that are sent to other places (Achrol & Stern, 1988; Goldfarb, 2001). The policies and procedures that these businesses have, though, are not always designed with their employees in mind and are not always tailored to the particular business and what it does (Andersson, 1992). It is very important to change this, because a business that does not pay attention to its employees is going to lose them (Gronroos, 2000). That does not mean that everything that an employee wants should be given to him or her, but only that employees should receive as much respect and fair treatment as customers and clients get (Gronroos, 2000).
