Excerpt from :
...... As to the organization of the user's manual, this must allow the
product user to quickly locate specifications by utilizing "headings,
lists, tables and identifying numbers." There are generally three sub-steps
used by the writer to organize the user's manual. First, a general
description of the product, such as how it was developed, the steps used by
the company to create the product and what it is suppose to do in terms of
operation. Second, the writer must provide a very detailed description of
the operation, such as how the product is to be installed in a computer and
its limitations related to operational systems. Lastly, all specifications
must be arranged "from general to specific" which can be accomplished by
using graphs and charts which often "convey some of the technical
information much more succinctly and effectively" as compared to using
simple sentence descriptions (McMurrey, 2008, Internet). Basically, a
user's manual must be written in a way that allows the user to fully
understand the technical specifications and must be clearly presented so
that the user can proceed from one step to another in order to properly
install and use the product
