...... President Barak Obama, though now inaugurated, is still a politician. In his first address to Congress last night, he outlined some aspects of the economic stimulus package, not in financial terms but in broad emotionally-stirring terms. This address was not so much for Congress as it was for the citizens and voters watching via television and internet media. President Obama was using the media to his advantage by promoting the ideals of his administration and his thoughts and hopes concerning the current recession. Getting the American people on his side will make it easier for him to act as he wishes. In response to this, Republican delivered a speech not in an attempt to denigrate the President, but disagreeing with his policies. This was an attempt of using the media to hurt a politician through his policies. It actually might have backfires, however; is not nearly as good a public speaker as the President, and what he said was far less substantive. To sway public opinion, the mediaand the politicians who use itmust pull at emotions more than logic, and Obama is simply more effective at this
