Poverty as structure can be best exemplified in the poor neighborhoods, from where few individuals manage to get access to education and become professionally successful. These individuals encounter serious problems in socially adjusting and the increased crime rates, due to deprivation, the culture of poverty and survival in a poor environment, have become the pillars of the respective structure. As the communities are based and live on that particular structure, it is quite difficult for the social worker, the outsider, to be accepted and allowed to help and properly continue his practices
Conclusions
Poverty can be defined in various ways, generally in light of its main features, such as reduced incomes and the deprivations they generate, the culture of poverty or poverty as structure.
